Sergio Rossi Spring/Summer 2012: Playing with straps
For Francesco Russo, Creative Director of Sergio Rossi, this is a time for a high tension clash: digital and hyper-realist printed flowers… and for meetings of extremes: Araki in Hawai… The summer will be… EROTIC. With bondage effects, ropes of silk or elastic winding like snakes around the leg.
“What I especially like is creating a relationship that merges the shoe and the body”, declares Francesco Russo, while suggesting the ties of dependency by binding calves in iridescent rope. EXOTIC. Carved cotton lilies and pistils embroidered in pearls on “neo-pin-up” sandals enhance the sensuality of the foot. In solid electric colours or in “kimono” shades that contrast bright and pastel tones. SUPER-EXPOSED. Pumps or sandals, all the great classics from Sergio Rossi are revisited in fluorescent colours showing the skilful combination of Italian craftsmanship and the greatest expression of creative daring.
This union is exemplified by the “Miladys” court shoe and the “Viva” handbag. Sergio Rossi jewellery and accessories echo the footwear: golden bondage-style straps around the waist, chest and wrists. Glossy enamelled metal clutches look like glamourous-couture boxes. For this occasion of presenting the Spring Summer 2012 collection, the Sergio Rossi showroom has been decorated in keeping with the spirit of the collection. In the first room, the shoes are displayed beneath their photographs shot by Johan Sandberg, inspired by Thai pin-up shots from the 1950s.
In the second room, giant flowers seem to grow off the walls in an explosion of colour that highlights this ultra-luminous, radiant collection.
